The new 27D hydraulic excavator, with a standard operating weight of 6,400 pounds, incorporates numerous features, says the manufacturer, that enhance its production capability. Among those features, compared to its C-Series predecessor, are increased operating speed (cycle times are reportedly 18 percent faster), 50 percent more drawbar pull and automatic shifting between low and high travel ranges. Powered by a new 26-net-hp Yanmar 3TNV88 diesel engine, the 27D has a new “long-arm and counterweight” option that increases digging depth to 9 feet 7 inches (compared to the standard machine’s 8 feet 7 inches) and increases operating weight by about 450 pounds.
