Deere Incorporates SmartGrade into 333G Compact Track Loader

March 6, 2020

John Deere has incorporated its proprietary grade-control technology, SmartGrade, into the company’s 333G compact track loader. According to the company, this marks the first time a fully integrated grade-control system has been available on compact equipment.

The SmartGrade 333G is designed, says Deere, to expand the capabilities of CTL users working in site development, roadbuilding, landscaping, and residential/commercial building operations by enabling them to take on new tasks and larger jobs that require highly accurate grades. By leveraging the latest grade-control technology, says the company, the SmartGrade 333G machine “levels the playing field with contactors running larger fleets.” The SmartGrade 333G will increase productivity, says Deere, by helping operators to automatically complete grading tasks faster with fewer passes and less rework, compared with working without grade-control technology.

By integrating the grade-control system into the machine’s structures and software, says Deere, vulnerable masts and cables are eliminated. According to Deere, in addition to introducing SmartGrade technology on the 333G, operators will also benefit from the launch of the company’s DozerMode system, which is designed as a “control solution” that enables the machine’s electro-hydraulic joystick control system to function in a crawler-dozer fashion—with the push of a button.
