Ditch WitchAccording to Ditch Witch, the JT3020 horizontal directional drill is an extended-range, self-contained machine providing 30,000 pounds of pullback force and having the capacity to establish pilot bores up to 4.5 inches in diameter and backreamer bores up to 12 inches in diameter. The new drill uses a 148-horsepower engine and, says the manufacturer, produces a sound level of only 82 dB(A) at the operator’s ear.
According to Ditch Witch, the JT3020 horizontal directional drill is an extended-range, self-contained machine providing 30,000 pounds of pullback force and having the capacity to establish pilot bores up to 4.5 inches in diameter and backreamer bores up to 12 inches in diameter. The new drill uses a 148-horsepower engine and, says the manufacturer, produces a sound level of only 82 dB(A) at the operator’s ear. The JT3020’s fluid pump can deliver 42-viscosity drilling fluid at 50 gallons per minute, and its thrust drive system is a rack-and-pinion type featuring a double rack that is welded in place to maintain alignment with the pinion.
