Bomag BMP 8500 Trench Compactor

Sept. 28, 2010

BOMAG BMP 8500 multipurpose articulated trench compactor has dual exciters and directed centrifugal force. The fully encased exciter housing prevents water and dirt from entering the area, as well as protecting hydraulic hoses from abrasion.

It is powered by a 19.4-horsepower Kubota diesel. Operating weight is 3,516 pounds.

The BMP 8500 can be controlled remotely using either wireless radio signals or umbilical cables to help ensure operator safety. The compactor has BOMAG's Economizer feature that lets the operator know when optimum compaction has been achieved. If the operator gets too close to the machine, the travel system is automatically stopped by the BOMAG operator safety system (BOSS).

Two amplitudes may be selected for two output options: 8,000 and 16,000 pounds. Bolt-on drum extensions give the BMP 8500 two working widths: 24 and 33.5 inches.

Bomag’s Ecomode system automatically idles the engine during pauses in compaction, and Intelligent Vibration Control helps achieve consistent results.
