Veert, VP, looks for opportunities to improve both his own skills, and the efficacy of the business systems and practices. He is forward-thinking when it comes to training and understands the concept of investing in your team to build a strong company. He recently learned of an employee struggling with literacy, making such things as paperwork and training into a stressful situation for him, and offered company-sponsored basic literacy support.
Training: Acquired credits toward Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification in construction management, finances, project planning and cost controls, construction law, and other areas.
Professional accomplishment: Led development and implementation of detailed estimating program and corresponding job-costing program, which has led to significant increases in the company’s overall profit.
Favorite book: Besides the Bible, “Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win,” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, an inspiring story and model of incredible leadership.
Extracurricular: Volunteer camp counselor in a youth Bible camp for children 12 and under.
