Air Lift

Sept. 28, 2010

The RoadTamer suspension system for heavy-duty pickup trucks helps provide a comfortable ride and towing control, says the company. It replaces steel-leaf springs with soft-riding air springs, like those installed on commercial semi-trucks. An electronic height-controlled leveling system, combined with a heavy-duty compressor, provides hands-off control. An electronic-control unit (ECU) is calibrated to the truck's ride height at installation. When the truck is loaded, the ECU automatically senses the truck sagging and turns on the compressor, which fills the air springs to level the truck. The system comes with a two-year warranty. MSRP for ¾- and 1-ton versions is $2,179; and $2,749 for the 1½-ton kit. Installation is approximately $500.
