Highway construction work is continuing around the world amid social distancing directives. To assist with the new rules, DKN Capital and LociLabs have developed a social distancing tool called SafeSpace.
The tool can be worn on the wrist or clipped to a belt when a device identifies another similar device within six feet of itself. It can hold a charge for over 12 hours, and aims to create a culture of spatial awareness while driving behavioral change.
Amey, a UK-based infrastructure support service provider, is one of the “early adopters” of this new technology for its highway, rail, and waste collection sectors.
“I believe, alongside our existing engineering and management controls we do need to be exploiting new technology such as SafeSpace to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our people,” James Haluch, Amey’s MD for transport infrastructure, told Traffic Technology Today.
