Second-generation hybrid excavator has Komatu’s Hybrid System, which includes electric swing motor, power generator motor, capacitor and 141-horsepower diesel. Operating weight is 47,530 pounds, and bucket capacity is 1.57 cubic yards. Upgrades include an additional service valve for use with hydraulic attachments and a pattern change valve. Komatsu warrants the hybrid power train components for 5 years or 7,000 hours. Komatsu says the hybrid saves, on average, 25 percent of the fuel used by a standard machine.
