A worker has died after being struck by an unknown object and falling 20 feet into a shaft on the Daryl Carter Parkway overpass project located near Palm and Central Florida parkways, west of I-4 in Orange County, Florida.
According to a report from ClickOrlando.com, authorities were called around noon Wednesday to the site where Orange County Fire Rescue crews performed a technical rescue to extricate the worker.
The man was taken to AdventHealth’s Palm Parkway ER and later died.
Authorities said work on the project has been paused while the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) conducts an investigation.
Authorities do not believe foul play was involved.
