Equipped with the same internal drive as on Morbark horizontal grinders, along with an extra-wide feed opening, the Model 40/36 tree chipper aggressively feeds brushy tops and limbs. The 36-inch-diameter by 40-inch-wide drum contains eight knives in a staggered configuration. Yet, at a width of 8 feet 6 inches, the new trailer-mounted Morbark whole tree chipper is easily transportable and requires no permits to move. With Caterpillar or John Deere power options up to 700 horsepower available, Morbark’s IQAN system monitors engine parameters, hydraulic pressures and temperatures, and also allows for the utilization of remote diagnostics. Wireless remote control and four hydraulic stabilizers complete the Model 40/36 package, which is specifically geared to the biomass industry and is said to be attracting interest from medium to large fuel producers.
