March 18, 2015

A construction worker died from injuries suffered following a fall at a Little Rock, Ark., construction site.

Erik Rivera Pontilla, 29, fell while working at 11 feet above ground on a beam where he was placing bolts into steel, according to an email statement by Little Rock Police Department spokesman Sgt. Cassandra.

Pontilla lost his footing and fell onto the concrete slab below, the email said. Pontilla worked for Little Rock-based Kinco Constructors, LLC.

No one was present at the time of the fall, but workers later found Pontilla on the ground. Pontilla was transported to the UAMS Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Davis said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating the death and a statement will be released following the investigation.
