Wacker Neuson Plans New Plant in China

June 27, 2016

The Wacker Neuson Group has been selling construction equipment in China for over 20 years and the company expanded its product portfolio in the Chinese market in 2015 to include compact equipment.  The company's new manufacturing site will produce  compact excavators for the local market and plans other products to follow. Wacker Neuson says the first compact excavator should roll off the production line early 2018.

The new production plant will be in Pinghu, China, about 30 km from Shanghai. Cem Peksaglam, the chief executive officer of Wacker Neuson SE, signed the corresponding contracts on site June 17.

Wacker Neuson 's new site is strategically located between Shanghai and Hangzhou, placing it in a desirable location offering a good infrastructure.  Manufacturing facilities, research and development, quality management, logistics, service and training will be located on approximately 443,000  sq.ft  of ground with approximately 100,000 sq.ft.  of building space.

Construction is planned to start in the fall of 2016, with completion slated by the end of 2017. Plans are to distribute in China first, then move into other Asian markets.

China's increasing need for improved infrastructure, the extension and modernization of the road and rail network while trending towards more efficient and environmentally friendly compact construction equipment offers attractive growth opportunities for the Wacker Neuson Group. A stronger presence in the country, including R&D and production will lay the groundwork to be part of the future growth and improvements in the Asia-Pacific region.
