Volvo Trucks “Payload Plus” packages use lightweight components to boost payload and fuel efficiency for VNR and VNL series trucks.

Lightweight components include horizontal exhaust, aluminum wheels, and lightweight chassis components. Additional options can include optimized wheelbases and frame rail thickness.

Packages target  tanker, bulk-haul, dry van, and refrigerated applications. They remove up to 540 pounds from Volvo VNR regional-haul models, and 335 pounds from Volvo VNL long-haul models.

“Some applications are all about weight, and every pound saved means more payload and greater profitability per job,” said Chris Stadler, Volvo Trucks marketing manager. “We hear from some fleets, particularly in bulk applications, that every pound of additional payload can equate to an additional $10 or more per job, so the Payload Plus packages represent a tremendous business opportunity.”
