Volvo Rents Acquires Big L Rentals

April 26, 2012

Volvo Rents has added another location to its rental coverage by acquiring Big L Rentals and Sales in Garden City, Kan. Volvo now has more than 100 stores in North America, 27 added since the beginning of the year.

“We believe there is tremendous opportunity in the market in general, and specifically in the state of Kansas,” said Mike Crouch, VP of business development for Volvo Rents, noting the company’s other two stores in Wichita and Pittsburg. “Our strong brand recognition, coupled with the growing demand for equipment rental, allows us to look to the future with great enthusiasm.”

According to the latest data released by the American Rental Association (ARA), the equipment rental industry outperformed the industries it serves in 2011 and the momentum is expected to carry into 2012 and beyond.

ARA expects overall North American equipment rental industry revenue to increase at least 6.9 percent in 2012 to total $33.5 billion at year end. The five-year forecast calls for continued annual growth in rental revenue to reach a total of $53.1 billion by 2016.

“The Volvo name inspires confidence worldwide and will no doubt elevate our store to the big leagues,” said Jack Beery, who has owned Big L Rentals and Sales with his wife, Dixie, since 1996. “As a member of the global Volvo family of business, the store will have access to some of the most advanced equipment, technology and marketing in the world.”
