Weighing 2.5 tons, the ECR25D excavator produces a greater combination of breakout and tearout forces than its 2.8-ton predecessor, Volvo says. Breakout force is 4,554 lb.; tearout force with the short arm is 3,885 lb. The short-swing, compact-radius unit can be equipped with an additional counterweight. Total transport weight for the machine, three buckets, breaker and trailer is 3.5 tons, Volvo says. The 20.9-horsepower D1.1A diesel is Tier 4-Interim and is paired with upgraded hydraulics for productivity and digging performance improvements. All service checkpoints are accessible at ground level, grouped under a lockable hood. A patented multifunction hydraulic oil filter/filler improves protection of the hydraulic system and provides early detection of oil pollutants, according to Volvo. CareTrack telematics system is optional.
