Virginia Governor Proposes 5-Year Transportation Funding Plan

Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell proposed a new transportation funding plan, which involves eliminating the state’s gas tax and replacing it with an increase in sales tax, according to The Washington Post

The five-year plan would raise an estimated $3.1 billion dollars for the state’s transportation fund. The plan also includes an increase in vehicle registration fees, and an additional fee for owners of alternative fuel vehicles.
