Rod Sutton, editorial director of Construction Equipment, announces the 2021 Dealer Excellence Award winners.
The Awards, launched three years ago, honor dealers and distributors who are leveraging technologies to ensure fleet managers and operators have equipment at the right cost and the right time to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.
This year, we have chosen four dealerships to recognize. Before I tell you who they are, let me remind you what the Award represents. We have identified Six Pillars for Partnership. These areas form the basis on which a successful partnership between a dealer and a fleet is built.
Six Pillars of Partnership
- Service infrastructure
- Manufacturer relations
- Technology infrastructure
- Machine-data management
- Service management
This year, CE is honoring four dealers, in no particular order:
Foley Equipment, a Caterpillar dealer headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, launched custom-built communications service that allows it to offer real-time technical assistance to its customers, regardless of equipment brand.
West Side Tractor, a Deere dealer in Lisle, Illinois, built a machine data-driven maintenance-management system that allows it to centralize preventive maintenance for a customer’s far-flung fleet of more than 900 pieces of equipment.
Ascendum Machinery, a Volvo dealer in North Carolina, uses machine data to help its customers manage not only maintenance, but also utilization and acquisition strategies.
And McCann Industries, a Case dealer in Addison, Illinois, manages the maintenance for some of its customers using machine data, a service particularly useful to smaller fleets that do not have a fleet or maintenance manager on staff.
