Three construction workers were repairing a bridge along Route 219 in Ridgway, Pa., when it collapsed beneath the weight of an excavator, WTAJ TV reports.
The video shows two workers walking alongside the excavator when that section of the bridge collapsed. The other worker was beneath the bridge when it gave way. All three survived, sustaining minor injuries.
PennDOT Assistant District Executive Ben LaParne told WTAJ about four or five cuts were made on both the abutments and workers were in the process of making the last vertical cut.
Once an investigation into the collapse is conducted, PennDOT plans to demolish the entire bridge.
