A twenty-seven year old man is in critical condition after two pieces of rebar became embedded in his torso yesterday.
The worker was about 20 feet up working on a 49-story highrise construction site in downtown Los Angeles when a panel fell on to him, knocking him onto the rebar around 2:43 p.m. Tuesday. The Los Angeles Fire Department had to cut the bars to free the man. A construction crane was used to lower the man to a waiting ambulance.
Rescuers said the man was conscious and talking when they arrived. The construction site is owned by Omni Group.
