VIDEO: Four Tips to Keep Your Excavators Up and Running

Sept. 19, 2018

Ensure your excavator downtime remains at a minimum by keeping these four key areas in mind, courtesy of Volvo Construction Equipment:

Track tension: If track tension is too slack, the actual chain can de-track. Too tight can cause increased wear on all undercarriage components.

Drive Sprockets: Drive sprockets should always be at the rear when moving an excavator. Moving the machine with them at the front can cause extra wear to the sprockets, and the chains themselves.

Oil and water: Low coolant can cause the machine to overheat. Coolant and engine oil must be checked daily.

Filters: Volvo recommends changing engine oil filters and fuel filters every 500 hours as part of your service schedule.
