September 09, 2015

A truck crane caught fire on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, N.C., reports WSOCTV. Two northbound lanes and all southbound lanes on I-485 at Beatles Ford Road were closed.

News outlets reported a spill of diesel and/or hydraulic fluid, which may have entered the storm drain. One lane remained closed as the EPA investigated the scene as a hazardous materials spill. All lanes are now open.

The driver was not injured. He was able to pull over and escape after a passing motorist alerted him of the fire. The all-terrain crane carried the Maxim Crane Works logo.
