Trimble Partners with Volvo, Liebherr

Trimble will integrate its Earthworks Grade Control Platform with Volvo excavators and Liebherr bulldozers.

Earthworks will complement Volvo’s Dig Assist 2D grade control on Volvo excavators to enable the use of 3D constructible models, as-build data, remote support, design, and asset management, as well as other Trimble Connected Site technologies, Trimble said in a press release.

“In the complex world of construction projects, our customers are looking for more integration and collaboration between their suppliers,” said Jeroen Schnoek, director Connected Site and Machine Services, Volvo CE, in the release. “Collaborating with Trimble will deliver our common customers the best of both worlds: their well-known Trimble 3D grade control solution integrated with the factory-integrated Volvo Dig Assist and Co-Pilot platform.”

Liebherr PR736 Generation 8 crawler dozers will now have a factory option making them ready for installation of an Earthworks base kit, which includes mounting hardware, brackets, and an integrated wiring harness.

“By providing a Trimble Ready option, customers now have a solution that enables quick, easy installation of Trimble Earthworks,” Johannes Neureiter, product manager for Liebherr, said in the release. “Contractors are increasingly utilizing construction technology on the job site, and this new option makes the installation more integrated and less costly for our mutual customers.”

The option is expected to be available in the fourth quarter, Trimble said.
