Sakai says its CV550D is the world’s first track-driven vibratory soil compactor designed for the compaction of steep slopes and difficult terrain. The track drive gives the machine the necessary traction and gradeability to climb steep slopes—up to 100 percent or 45 degrees—while compacting, the company says.

The machine delivers 61,729 pounds of centrifugal force or 917 pounds per linear inch of total applied force over its 84-inch drum. The unit’s 110-inch blade, when combined with its superb traction, can move dirt quickly. Estimated price: $220,000.
