Top 100: Cleaner Machines Work Smarter, Cool Better

Sept. 28, 2010

When John Deere complied with Tier II emissions, its C Series excavators gained better fuel efficiency and enhanced cooling and hydraulics. The PowerwizeII system ensures that all eight models' engines and hydraulic systems work together to milk the PowerTech engines' high torque rise. Exhaust cleanup required air-to-air charge-air coolers, and fuel coolers on some models, so Deere put in airfoil fans to increase cooling power 13 percent. The greasing interval is 500 hours, and the first hydraulic-oil change interval is 4,000 hours. Estimated price (the 200C LC without bucket): $186,000.
