T.L. Wallace on MDOT Bridge

Staff | September 28, 2010

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has begun a bridge replacement project along U.S. Highway 49 at Myers Creek in Forrest County. The bridge is located about a mile south of Highway 98. T.L. Wallace, Inc. of Columbia was awarded the $2.4-million project. After crews finish preliminary clearing work, a detour road and bridge will be constructed in the median. Southbound traffic will then be placed on the detour road while the southbound bridge is replaced. Later, southbound traffic will be placed on the newly built bridge and northbound traffic will travel along the detour road. Once those lanes have been completed, the traffic will placed on the new bridge, and the detour road and bridge will be removed. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2010.
