The ‘I Lift NY’ super crane being used on the Tappan Zee Bridge had its first lift at the center span of the bridge replacement project.

The super crane is capable of lifting nearly 2,000 tons in one motion and setting the load down in a few hours, powered by three diesel generators and one auxiliary generator. Its boom length is 328 ft.

The crane will help build the new Tappan Zee Bridge and also help demolish the existing one.

The Journal News has posted photos and a video. Earlier, the news site posted an interview with the Super Crane operator.
