StraightLine's Model SL2020 horizontal directional drill Central to the design of StraightLine's Model SL2020 horizontal directional drill is the elimination of complex electrical systems in favor of hydraulic-over-hydraulic controls. Powered by a 99-hp John Deere diesel engine, the SL2020 utilizes a 30-gpm triplex mud pump. At a width of 52 inches, the unit fits in congested residential areas, yet with 20,000 pounds of thrust/pullback and 2,000 ft.-lbs. of rotary torque, is designed to perform as a much bigger rig. Machine stakedown is matched to the size of the unit, as is the machine-fit rack and pinion. Simple hydraulic and electrical circuits are intentionally designed to be contractor-serviced.
