State Department Review of Keystone Said Fair

February 10, 2012

The State Department's review of the Keystone XL pipeline was conducted fairly, according to a report from the department's inspector general. The report found no proof that parent TransCanada influenced the department's selection of an independent firm to perform the environmental review for the project.

According to The Hill/E2 Wire, the finding of a lack of undue influence is a boost to project proponents, but Keystone naysayers say the State Department's review process should be beefed up and redesigned.
