The Metropolitan Transit Authority awarded a joint venture of Skanska USA and Traylor Brothers Inc. a $972.2 million contract to design and build the Regional Connector light-rail project in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Downtown News.
The project consists of construction of a 1.9-mile tunnel and three new light rail stations. The team’s bid was $39 million more than another bid that was considered, but Skanska/Traylor indicated it could complete the project 115 days sooner, the report says.
The project is projected for completion in 2020.
