Shell Lubricants Announces 3 New Commercial Fluids

Shell Rotella ELC Correction Fluid

With a growing number of commercial vehicles requiring nitrite-free engine-coolant formulations to better protect aluminum components, Shell Lubricants is introducing Shell Rotella ELC (extended-life coolant) Correction Fluid.

The new product is designed to restore additive levels in Shell Rotella ELC NF (Nitrite-Free) coolant when levels are diminished by contamination/dilution with coolants containing other types of additives. The new correction fluid restores corrosion inhibitor levels to satisfactory new levels and will help extend the service life of Shell Rotella ELC NF beyond 600,000 miles.

“Shell Rotella ELC Correction Fluid is designed to provide shops a quick and easy way to restore and regain the benefits of Shell Rotella ELC NF,” says Stede Granger, OEM technical manager, Shell Lubricants. “

The correction fluid supplements the organic additive technology [OAT] in Rotella ELC NF when it has been mixed with other coolants or has been over-diluted with water, ensuring proper protection.”

Shell Rotella ELC Correction Fluid can be used to convert cooling systems from conventional, fully formulated coolant to Shell Rotella ELC technology without draining and refilling the entire system and can be used to convert other brands of extended-life coolants to Shell Rotella ELC NF.

To determine the volume of Shell Rotella ELC Correction Fluid that might be required to restore a vehicle’s cooling system, the existing coolant can be tested for condition and OAT corrosion- inhibitor levels by using Shell-approved test strips. Instructions are included with the product to assist with proper application. 

T6 Multi-Vehicle 5W-30 for gas and diesel engines

Shell is introducing Shell Rotella T6 Multi-Vehicle 5W-30 full-synthetic motor oil, which meets the API CK-4 specification for diesel engines and the API SN specification for gasoline engines.

T6 Multi-Vehicle 5W-30 is for use in pickup trucks and vans, as well as class 6-8 heavy duty trucks, allowing fleets with both engine types to stock a single oil.  

Shell says T6 Multi-Vehicle 5W-30 is engineered to provide protection under severe conditions and provides excellent performance in API CK-4 and OEM tests, dsiplaying outstanding wear-control, oxidation-control, and deposit-control for diesel engines. T6 Multi-Vehicle 5W-30 demonstrated strong oxidation resistance in the new Volvo T-13 oxidation test, controlling acid build up, preventing oil thickening, and exceeding the API CK-4 limits for oxidation.

T6 Multi-Vehicle 5W-30 exceeds the requirements of the API SN performance category and can be used in gasoline engines recommending a 5W-30 viscosity grade.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid

Shell Lubricants is also adding Shell Rotella diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) to its product line up.

Shell Rotella DEF meets the stringent chemical requirements of ISO 22241 (AUS 32) and conforms to manufacturing standards and certification requirements for API Certified Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

 Shell Rotella DEF is available in 2.5-gallon containers and is suitable for heavy-duty trucks, diesel pickup trucks, diesel cars, off-road equipment, and stationary engines
