Seattle is experiencing a building boom, mostly fueled by the rapid growth of tech-related business such as Amazon.com, reports The Seattle Times.
The boom is good news for a new generation of workers looking in need of a job.
“We’re in for a good, solid, absolute full-employment decade,” Lee Newgent, executive director of the Washington State Building & Construction Trades Council told The Seattle Times. “Starting right now.”
The statewide roster of about 75,000 union building-trades workers is expected to grow by 5,000 or more in the next 18 months.
Regional construction spending is expected to reach $25 billion over the next decade, according to The Seattle Times.
