SDLG will expand its lineup in 2017 to include a compact wheel loader and a backhoe loader, according to Alan Quinn, director of SDLG North America. The compact wheel loader will likely be introduced at Conexpo in March, he says. The backhoe loader, which will be in the under-74-horsepower category that has gained popularity in the past year, will not be available until the second half of the year.
Quinn says the compact wheel loader is a natural extension of the value line that SDLG offers in North America and will compete well, he says, with larger skid steer loaders at a price point below $50,000. The backhoe has been built from scratch, Quinn says, although Volvo has had input in the design process.
SDLG, which is 70 percent owned by Volvo, now has representation in 75 percent of Volvo's dealerships in North America, Quinn says.
