The Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority (ENMNOEHA), the governing board of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, has applied for zoning changes for its proposed public/private development on 47 acres of riverfront land across the street from the convention center.
Developers hope to build a highrise hotel, retail, restaurants, housing and park space in the Warehouse District. Spokesperson Greg Beuerman said the idea behind the development is to make the area around the Convention Center more livable and walk-able. New Orleans City Council member, Nadine Ramsey the development would bring major economic development to the Warehouse District.
Beuerman said $70 million of the project will be funded by the Convention Center's bonding capacity, and the rest will be funded by private developers.
The city planning commission will meet in October to review the zoning request.
