Overturned Dump Truck Bursts Into Flames, Closes NJ Turnpike

August 4, 2015

The New Jersey Turnpike was closed in both directions in both the car and truck lanes after a dump truck overturned and caught fire following a crash with a car on the southbound outer roadway just north of I-12- Carteret-Rahway in Linden, N.J., reports ABC 7.

State police described the accident as very serious and said the driver was trapped in the tractor trailer-sized dump truck, which they believe struck the overpass before bursting into flames.

Police are diverting traffic on local roads away from the bridge with closures expected to last for hours, according to ABC 7.
