Kentucky and Indiana have reached an agreement to fund the Ohio River Bridges Project that brings down the cost from $4.1 billion to $2.6 billion. The completed financing plan allows the two states to move ahead on the two bridges, and work could begin by the end of 2012.
"By playing to each state’s strengths, we are lowering the cost of the project, increasing competition and speeding the construction of these critical bridges," Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear said.
According to the American City Business Journals, Louisville, the plan is more favorable to Kentucky than expected.
