Ohio River Bridges Project Nears Completion (Video)

December 1, 2015

The Downtown Crossing bridge, newly named the Abraham Lincoln Bridge, will start carrying two-way traffic by the end of the year, reports Courier-Journal.

The new Lincoln portion of the project includes a new cable-stayed bridge, an improved Kennedy Bridge and interstate connections on both sides of the river.

When the new bridge opens, the Kennedy will be closed for upgrading.

According to the Courier-Journal, the revamped Kennedy, which is more than 50 years old, is scheduled to reopen in late 2016, at which time the Kennedy will carry I-65 northbound and southbound traffic.
