Obama Calls on House to Pass Highway Bill

March 20, 2012

House Republicans should follow the Senate's lead and pass bipartisan transportation legislation so President Obama can sign it, the White House said. The House has to either pass a transportation bill of its own or take up the Senate's $109-billion measure before the March 31 expiration of the current SAFETEA-LU.

The Hill's Transportation Blog reports that President Obama supports the Senate's version of the federal highway bill over the five-year, $260 billion plan that had been under consideration in the House.
