Papillion Data Center's original plans expanded to six buildings

Facebook expansion will break ground in May

Facebook announced yesterday its Papillion Data Center construction, announced in April 2017, is now planned to be 200 percent larger than the original 2017 build.

The expansion will break ground in May and when the entire data center is finished in 2023, the campus will be six buildings totaling more than 2.3 million square feet.

Facebook Papillion Data Center is now planned to be 200 percent larger than the original 2017 build.Jim Piazza, Facebook's director of data center operations, says " With this expansion, we will support thousands of construction jobs for years to come and hundreds of operational positions. we are committed to hiring as locally as possible; we care about being a good neighbor and having a positive impact within Nebraska."

Like other Facebook data centers, Papillion will be 100 percent powered by renewable energy, using wind energy generated by Enel Green Power's Rattlesnake Creek Wind Project in Dixon County, Nebraska, about 100 miles from the Papillion Data Center.
