The 14th annual National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 15 to 19, 2013. The theme, “Work Zone Safety: We’re All in This Together,” highlights the variety of factors and individuals affected by a construction work zone.
The Federal Highway Administration, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and the American Traffic Safety Services Association first sponsored the annual event in 1999. The event is designed to raise awareness of road construction hazards.
Contractors, departments of transportation, and road workers are encouraged to develop and enforce safety policies and procedures for the protection of employees and citizens alike.
A kick-off ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, April 16.
