President Barack Obama signed a $33.3 billion defense funding bill that allocates $345 million for construction spending at the Savannah River Site's Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility in South Carolina, reports Aiken Standard. The project is expected to employ 2,000 workers. 

The site will convert 34 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium into commercial nuclear fuel.
