Mobile App Monitors Komatsu Machines

December 16, 2013

Komatsu America Corp. has released a mobile app, allowing equipment owners to view machine information from the Komtrax fleet monitoring system on their Apple or Android smartphones or tablets.

The new app allows owners to locate an asset and obtain driving directions to it; identify hours worked, idle time and fuel consumption; identify caution codes with descriptions and time stamps; understand machine movements and analyze machine utilization.

Additionally, the app gives owners the opportunity to directly contact their distributor, product support sales representative, salesperson, service provider, parts counter or Komtrax Coordinator by emailing, calling or texting.

The app is currently only available for machines located in North America and can be downloaded for free at either the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.

All new Komatsu America construction machines have come standard with Komtrax since its introduction in 2005. The system sends machine operating information to a secure website utilizing wireless technology. Data such as operating hours, machine location, maintenance notifications, out of area notifications, machine utilization and fuel usage are relayed for analysis. The fleet monitoring system monitors machine availability, reduces the risk of machine theft, allows for remote diagnosis by the distributor and provides other information to maximize business efficiency.
