McConnell Says Highway Bill Extension Creates "Space"

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said the three-month extension of federal transportation funding will give the House "space" to craft a longer highway bill this fall.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said the three-month extension of federal transportation funding will give the House "space" to craft a longer highway bill this fall.

"We all want the House to have the space to develop its own bill, because we all want to work out the best possible legislation for the American people in a conference later this year," McConnell said, as reported by The Hill.

McConnell noted that the long-term measure now under discussion does not raise gas taxes.
