Operating a loader bucket in a heel-down position increases wear on the bottom of the bucket and wears ground-engaging tools unevenly. It decreases penetration, actually trying to push the pile, and increases cycle times, fuel consumption, and possibly tire wear.

Maintain the bucket leveler and use it carefully so that penetrating force is focused on the tip of the tooth. It will fill buckets faster, keep the tooth sharp, and protect the bucket from wear.
