Liebherr brings its first minimal-tailswing excavator to the U.S. market. The R 924 Compact was designed from the ground up to work on confined jobsites. Powered by a 164-horsepower Liebherr diesel, the machine features an electronic regulating system that ensures an efficient conversion of the engine output in hydraulic performance, the company says. Routine maintenance can be done easily thanks to all service points being centrally located and accessible from the ground; it also has an automatic lubrication system. The unit is said to offer the only full-sized cab in its class, providing the power and performance of a standard excavator without sacrificing operator comfort. Estimated list price: $225,000–$275,000.
