San Jose, CA— DBM Contractors Inc. has completed a $500,000 project for James W. Fowler Co. out of Dallas, OR, at Lake Nacimiento, CA. James W. Fowler Co. is the general contractor for the Nacimiento Intake Unit A project for the San Luis Obispo County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. The $21-million project awarded to Fowler is part of the $176-million Nacimiento Water Project, which will eventually provide drinking water for five cities in the San Luis Obispo area including Paso Robles and Atascadero. DBM drilled 36-inch and 42-inch diameter shafts for the installation of 30-inch by 24-inch pre-cast piers, then grouted the annulus between the shaft wall and the piers. Six shafts were drilled from land, and the remaining 12 were drilled from a barge through approximately 100 feet of water and extended about 30 feet below the lake bed.
