Komatsu Raises Outlook

Komatsu Ltd., the world’s second- largest maker of construction and mining equipment, raised its full-year earnings outlook after posting a 9.6-fold jump in second quarter profit as economies expanded in Asia.

Net income will probably be 120 billion yen ($1.5 billion) for the year ending March 2011, compared with a July 13 estimate of a 105 billion yen profit, the Tokyo-based company said today in a statement. Sales may rise 23 percent to 1.76 trillion yen, higher than its July 13 forecast of 1.72 trillion yen.
