Komatsu and GE announced a partnership that will provide big data analysis to mining customers.
According to both companies, efficiency in mining operations can be increased through big-data analysis.
The new partnership will include collecting operational data from sensors attached to Komatsu’s mining dump trucks. The collected data will then be sent to a U.S. GE data center where it will be processed using GE’s big-data analysis capabilities.
Applications for the end information include recommending optimal truck routes and positioning, in addition to speed and braking requirements.
The operation is expected to help miners cut fuel costs.
