Keystone Route Selection Bill Cleared in Nebraska

April 12, 2012

Legislation that would allow Nebraska's Department of Environmental Quality to study a new, less environmentally sensitive route for TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline was approved by the state's Legislature.

The measure "puts the power for final route selection in Nebraska back in the hands of Nebraskans, regardless of what takes place at the federal level," said Shawn Howard, a spokesman for TransCanada, told Reuters.
