Keystone Pipeline Spiked

November 9, 2015

President Obama announced on Friday that his administration will not issue construction permits for the Keystone XL pipeline connecting Canadian oil producers with Gulf Coast refiners.

Obama said that the State Dept, after “extensive public outreach and consultation with other cabinet agencies,” determined that the project would not serve the “national interests of the United States.”

Obama said approval of the pipeline would be detrimental to efforts to curb greenhouse gases.
