John Deere Lays Off 160 Illinois Workers

Approximately 160 John Deere employees in Moline, Ill., were laid off due to an inventory adjustment shutdown, reports WQAD.

The employees were told they were placed on an indefinite layoff. John Deere is expecting equipment sales to drop again by the end of fiscal year 2015. 

John Deere Global Publication Relations Director Ken Golden explained in a statement that the market demand for products and workforce efficiency have been taken into consideration as Deere works to adjust the size of the manufacturing workforce.
